CoreChange Forges New Collaborations
CoreChange has recently partnered with Healing 4 Humanity, a Walnut Hills, community-based ministry that shares our vision of individual and societal transformation. Healing 4 Humanity launched, "Healthy Families Begin With Me – An Obesity Intervention Collaborative", in February 2013. Together, with our participation, along with other major community stakeholders, institutions and organizational partners, Healthy Families Begin With Me will offer a comprehensive strategic approach to address the obesity disorder. In a synergistic partnership, along with Healing 4 Humanity, Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital, Cincinnati Health Department and Cincinnati Public School System, we are enabled to develop interventions that not only impact the clinical, causative factors of disease but also the systemic root causes within our communities that often parallel their prevalence.
A primary social health determinant and major systemic cause of obesity and its associated co-morbidities is poverty. As we implement clinical interventions, inclusive of medical, surgical and behavioral health modifications, CORE Change will focus on transformational strategies to afford individuals the opportunities to intercept the vicious, co-existing cycles of obesity and poverty through education and economic empowerment. These approaches will foster health and economic well being by creating jobs, developing a skilled workforce and creating opportunities for business development and community wealth building, leading to the stabilization of local business districts and communities throughout Greater Cincinnati.
